Fungal Rashes

Fungal rashes are common and can be complicated to diagnose. Rashes to the body and trunk may occur subalternarily to infection with tinea corpora (ringworm) or tinea versicolor. There are many types of fungus germs (fungi) and some can contaminate the skin, nails, and hair. Most fungal skin conditions are not severe and are usually not easily spread from person to person.

A fungal rash is fiery-red in color and can spread across a considerable area. The color may be more terrible at the center and may lack a distinct border. Smaller, more complex lesions may be present on the outer perimeter of the rash area. Inspite their reputation, fungal rashes are not commonly caught from dogs or other animals, nor are they easily transmitted in gyms, showers, pools, or locker rooms.

There are different types of fungal rashes such as: Tinea versicolor, Athlete's foot, Ringworm etc. Tinea cruris commonly happens in sportspeople. It strikes the groin and the buttock, complexion of rashes is itchy, inflamed and reddened. Fungal skin rash is not contagious. But occassionally-deep infections caused by the fungal rashes may lead to serious problems.

Fungal rashes on the scalp could result in hair loss. Although, these rashes should not be confused with other skin infections like psoriasis, eczema, etc. The rash is frequently seen across the buttocks but may extend into the groin area and thighs. The rash may have a diversity of appearances. The site of infection may be just one area of the body, or there may be many infected areas. In most cases they are not highly infectious between people either. The rash may be somewhat irritating, but sometimes it is very itchy and inflamed.

Persons who are more prone to develop a fungal rash are like---who are overnight, person who lather heavily, person who have a loss of mobility. The rash may range depending on which type of fungus causes the infection. Occassionally fungal skin infections look similar to other skin rashes such as psoriasis.
